Building (Amendment No. 2) (Wales) Regulations 2013

Introduction

1.I am directed by Welsh Ministers to draw your attention to the removal and replacement, on 14 November 2013, of Schedule 3 (self-certification schemes and exemptions from the requirement to give building notice or deposit full plans) to the Building Regulations 2010 in relation to Wales.

2.The amendment regulations have been made by the Welsh Minister for Housing and Regeneration in exercise of powers contained in the Building Act 1984.

3.The purpose of this Circular is to draw attention to the amendments to Schedule 3 of the Building Regulations 2010 for Wales.

Replacement of Schedule 3

4.The previous Schedule 3 has been substituted by a new Schedule 3 on a Wales only basis.

5.The new Schedule 3 has the effect of replacing the previous row numbers as a result of previous amendments implemented by the Building Regulations &c. (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2013.

6.Row numbers 20, 21, 22 and 23 replace numbers 21, 22, 23 and 24 respectively.

7.The new Schedule 3 extends the scope of Certsure LLP in column 2 rows 13 and 20.

8.The new Schedule 3 adds BRE Global Ltd to the list of bodies specified in column 2 as bodies authorised to register persons for the purposes of self certification in row 17.

9.The new Schedule 3 adds British Board of Agrément to the list of bodies specified in column 2 as bodies authorised to register persons for the purposes of self certification in rows 21, 22 and 23.
