A&E deserves better tools

Avoice exists because we spent years watching architects do work they shouldn't have been doing. Writing specifications late into the night, chasing submittals across email threads, answering the same RFI three different ways for three different consultants, marking up shop drawings on a Sunday because the contractor needs them by Monday morning.

None of this is the work that anyone got into architecture to do, and yet it adds up to most of what a practice actually spends its time on. We think that's worth fixing. So we built a platform that handles those workflows the way a good associate would, carefully and with the kind of attention to detail that the profession demands, so that the people who trained to design buildings can actually spend their days designing them.

We also think the software the industry runs on has not aged well. Most of it was built decades ago by companies that figured out early how to make their tools impossible to leave, and they have spent the years since raising prices and adding lock-in rather than making the products better. Smaller practices feel this most, but everyone pays for it in one way or another.

We are trying to do something different at Avoice, which is to build tools that are genuinely useful and to price them in a way that makes sense whether you are a studio of four people in London or a global practice with offices on three continents. The work we do is meant to support the profession rather than extract from it, and that distinction shapes everything from how we price the product to how we build it.
